Because there is not very much understanding on the subject of the anointing there is very little power that is being displayed. The Lord is looking for people that have a clear understanding of the anointing, and how to co-operate with the anointing to set the captives free, and lift believers into higher realms of the glory of God. In this teaching titled The Anointing we will examine several key elements about the anointing. We will discuss the anointing under the Old Testament, the anointing on Jesus, the anointing in the New Covenant, heavens electricity, and how to cooperate with the Holy Spirit.

Holy Anointing Oil (Old Testament)

Psalm 92 1) IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO THY NAME, O MOST HIGH: 2) To shew forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, 3) Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. 4) For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. 5) O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. 6) A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. 7) When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: 8) But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. 9) For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.10) But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.11) Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.12) The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.13) Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.14) They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;15) To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

This entire Psalm is declaring praise and magnifying the goodness of God. I want you to notice verse 10 he said I shall be anointed with fresh oil. Under the Old Testament men were set apart for the work of God by the anointing of oil. The anointing was a type of the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost was to separate them to the office that they were to stand in. Under the Old Testament there were three offices that men were anointed to stand in. Those three offices were the Prophet (1Kings19:15-16, Psalm 105:15), the Priest (Exodus 29:4-7, 30:30), and the King (1Samuel 16:12-13, 1 Samuel 16:1-13)(Psalm 89:20). When an individual was anointed they would literally pour olive oil on their head and it would run down their garments, and the Holy Ghost would come upon them to stand in that office from that day forward. The word anointing means to smear or to rub in. The oil was only a natural type of what was literally taking place in the spirit. To be anointed with the Holy Spirit is to be empowered by God for his plan and purpose.

The Anointing on Jesus

Jesus said that He only did and said what He saw the Father do and say. He was completely yielded to the will of His heavenly Father, in complete obedience even to His death. The bible also says that Jesus had the Spirit without measure. He had the Spirit without measure not just because He was the son of God, but because He was obedient to the will of God. Jesus walked the earth as a man anointed by God. The number one best way to understand how to flow and function in the anointing is to sit under the ministry of Jesus. Jesus is our example, and He is expecting us to do the same works that He did and even greater. Go to the gospels and attend some of Jesus crusades, see the power of God falling and healing all, watch Jesus make clay and heal a blind man, see Jesus casting out devils. When you hang out with Jesus something happens (Acts 4:13). The more you are accustomed with the ways of Jesus the easier it will be to discern when the anointing is present and how to cooperate with the anointing to accomplish what is in the mind of Christ for every situation. The bible makes it clear that Jesus didn't perform one miracle until the water was turned into wine in John 2. Some people think that Jesus went around as a child performing miracles, but the bible makes it clear that Jesus did not perform one miracle until He was baptized at the river Jordan and the Holy Ghost came upon Him in the visible form of a dove.
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; The purpose of these gifts is so that we can grow up and not be tossed by every wind of doctrine. In His earthly ministry Jesus stood in the office of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, Pastor (Shepard) an He was a teacher.
Apostle- Jesus was a sent missionary from heaven to earth for the purpose of saving the world from sin and redeeming man back to their Father, and He completely fulfilled his mission.
Prophet- Jesus was the Prophet; every word that Jesus spoke was a direct revelation from God.
Evangelist- Jesus was the Evangelist; He declared the good news of the Kingdom of God. Under the Old Testament we see that there was a manifestation to some degree of the anointing, but as we saw earlier it wasn't for everyone. In Mark 16:15 Jesus told His disciples to go ye into all of the world and preach the gospel, this applied to them and it also applies to us today. In Mark 13:34 we see that Jesus gave His servants authority. As you read throughout the book of Acts you will find that when the power of God was displayed persecution arose, and the church went everywhere preaching. You may not be called to stand in the office of an Evangelist, but every believer is called to share the Good News of Jesus (refer to the Street Evangelism Training Manual if you would like to learn how to effectively share the Gospel). Jesus said that we were to go, but I want you to notice something that He said before you are to go. He said to tarry at the city of Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49). The anointing of the Holy Spirit is for every believer, every believer needs to be endued with power from on high if they are going to be an effective witness. Remember it wasnt just the 12 on the day of Pentecost, it was the 120.

(Luke 4:14) And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee: and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.

Luke 3:21-22) Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,22) And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Jesus was born of the Spirit. The Angel appeared unto Mary and told her that she would give birth, and she said, how? The Angel said “the Holy Ghost shall overshadow thee.” Jesus was born of the Holy Ghost and if you are a born again child of God you are born of the Holy Ghost. We see 33 years later Jesus was endued with power for His ministry. When you are born again that is one experience, when you are empowered from on high with the anointing of the Holy Ghost that is another experience. There is the anointing within, that comes when and individual is born again, which is for fellowship. Then there is the anointing upon, this is the power Jesus was speaking of, which comes for ministry.

Heavens Electricity

(Mathew 13:54-58) The Bible tells us that Jesus could do no mighty works in His hometown because of the peoples unbelief. That tells me that even though Jesus had the anointing without measure the people didn't receive because of their unbelief. They probably said Jesus of Nazareth, we know who He is, he was on our son Brian's baseball team. I know who he is, he is the guy who made our dinning room table and chairs. Jesus said, that a prophet is without honor in His hometown. Because they grew up with Him, they knew who He was. They doubted God's ability on him, and it kept them from receiving from heaven. So we find that their unbelief short circuited the power of God from touching them. It didn't short circuit the power on Jesus, it short circuited them from receiving. That tells me that if we reverence God, that is a key to receiving from God. It also tells me that if we look at people in the natural we will miss it.

The anointing is heavens electricity. If you can understand how electricity works then you can understand how the anointing works. There are good conductors and there are not so good conductors. Gold is an excellent conductors of electricity, but if you try to use something like lead then it is not as good of a conductor. It is the same way spiritually, the anointing flows where there is faith, but it is short circuited where there is doubt, unbelief, and little understanding of the word of God. When Bengamin Franklin invented the light bulb, he didn't invent electricity, he invented the light bulb, so that it could cooperate with electricity and bring the benefits that we receive today, let there be light!

In the story of the woman that was healed with issue of blood in (Mark 5:25-34) we find that she pressed in through the crowd, she touched the clothing of Jesus, and she was completely, instantly healed by the power of God. I'm sure that there were many people who touched Jesus that day, but there was something very different about her touch. She placed a demand on the anointing because of her faith. The power of God flowed out of Jesus' clothing and into her body and she was healed. In (Acts 19:11) the bible says that the anointing was in handkerchiefs and aprons and when people came into contact with these handkerchiefs and aprons diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. These are only a couple of many examples found in the bible that illustrate the tangibility and transference of the anointing. There are different anointings to stand in different offices in the Body of Christ. These different offices as we saw earlier are the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher. Regardless of what office an individual is anointed to stand in, they are also anointed to tell the good news of Jesus. God has an anointing for each believers life, it's our job to press in to God until we are operating in the call that He has for our lives.

Cooperating with God

One of the primary operations of the Holy Spirit is to communicate the mind of Christ to us. Jesus is the head and we are the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:23). In your natural body, when you decide to move your hand, foot, or any other part of your body, your brain sends an electrical impulse to the that part of your body, and that part of your body moves. In the same way Jesus is the head and we are His body, when He wants a certain part of his body to move or function in a certain way He sends a Holy Ghost impulse that is communicated from His Spirit to your spirit which gives direction and supplies energy to fulfill His intended purpose. The Holy Spirit is the one who communicates the mind of Christ to us and as we cooperate with Him we bring heaven to earth.
The anointing is God cooperating with you to fulfill His plan and purpose for your life. In Matthew 16:20 it says that the Lord was working with the disciples confirming the word with signs and wonders following. It is clear that God was cooperating with the disciples because the disciples were cooperating with Him by preaching His Word. We understand that God is everywhere at the same time, but that doesn't mean that He is manifesting His presence and power everywhere at the same time. He manifests himself where people are hungry and thirsty, where people are pressing in, and placing a demand on the anointing. The anointing isn't just a thing, the anointing is God Himself, it is the agent that He uses to set the captives free, destroy the works of the devil, and bring glory to Himself. The anointing is heavens supernatural equipment to do what God has called you to do. When God calls you to do something He will always equip you, so that you have enough to get the job done. I would rather have the anointing on me than have anything this world has to offer. God wants to empower you afresh for the task that lies ahead. When the anointing is on you, things become easy, things flow smoothly. I didn't say all of your circumstances will be perfect, but you will have grace to run your race.

Conclusion
You must commit to God and press in like never before, because God has an eternal plan and purpose for your life. He wants to take us out of sin consciousness and move us into righteousness consciousness. He desires to bring us to a place where we fully trust our heavenly Father. The New Creation has no past, it's a NOW creation! There are many preachers today who are trying to put God in a box by bringing people back under the law. As a result they are bringing people into bondage. One thing we must realize is that when Jesus hung on the cross, He cried “it is finished” the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom and the Holy Spirit came out of the tabernacle made with the hands of man, never to dwell there in again. Under the New Covenant the Holy Spirit has made His permanent home on the inside of the believer’s heart. We have literally become the tabernacle of God. This means that everywhere you go, He goes, because He lives on the inside of you. Under the Old Testament the law was given to govern the spiritually dead, and to reveal the need for a savior. If you have been born again, then you are not spiritually dead. You are alive in Christ, and made righteous through the finished work of Jesus. Jesus is the prototype of the New Creation. Jesus was the first man to enter the word spiritually alive since God breathed the breath of life into Adam. Jesus is the light of the world. JESUS IS OUR EXAMPLE! So what kind of power did Jesus operate in? (Mathew 4:24, 12:15, 15:30, 19:2, 21:14) Jesus went about healing all the sick, casting out devils, raising the dead and performing miracles. This is our example. Jesus said that if you believe on Him the works that He did you would do also and even greater works!

(Mark 11:12-14, 20-25)

In the above passage we see the account where Jesus cursed the fig tree because it was bearing no fruit. The tree here is a type (prophetic picture) of the law. It was a system that did not produce fruit. When Jesus cursed the fig tree nothing seemed to happen in the natural realm at first, but He activated a law in the spirit realm. The next day they saw that the tree was dried up from the roots. When you speak God’s word, sometimes nothing may seem to happen in the natural at first, but rest assured things are happening beyond what the natural eye can see. It starts in the spirit realm; the Holy Spirit is the one that performed the words of Jesus, and He is the one that performs His word when we speak it in faith.

The Fathers Provision

The disciples noticed a pattern with Jesus. Every time He would withdraw to pray, He would come out and great power would be displayed, miracle would explode everywhere He went. This supernatural, creative power flowed out of this time He spent with the heavenly Father. One day, one of the disciples asked Jesus “Lord, teach us to pray.”

Luke 11:1-13 (Amplified Bible)
1THEN HE was praying in a certain place; and when He stopped, one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray, [just] as John taught his disciples. 2And He said to them, When you pray, say: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come. Your will be done [held holy and revered] on earth as it is in heaven. 3Give us daily our bread [food for the morrow]. 4And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us [who has offended us or done us wrong]. And bring us not into temptation but rescue us from evil. 5And He said to them, Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and will say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves [of bread], 6For a friend of mine who is on a journey has just come, and I have nothing to put before him; 7And he from within will answer, Do not disturb me; the door is now closed, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and supply you [with anything]? 8I tell you, although he will not get up and supply him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his shameless persistence and insistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs. 9So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened. 11What father among you, if his son asks for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone; or if he asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent? 12Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts [gifts that are to their advantage] to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!

When you pray believe, and you shall have it. This bread that Jesus spoke of comes from the heavenly Father. If we are going to receive from our heavenly Father, then we must first have confidence, not only in His ability, but also in His willingness to bless us with this heavenly bread. Religion (the Old Testament mindset) is always begging and pleading with God, “We have to charge the gates of heaven, cry out with all we have and maybe, just maybe, God will throw us a cracker.” Our heavenly Father isn't that way at all. He gives abundantly to all of those who ask in faith. He never withholds. In fact, He is more willing to bless us than we are to receive. The problem is not with God, the problem is with our understanding of His willingness and ability. Nothing destroys faith like religion and tradition. This is the reason Jesus shared the parable of the son asking his father for bread. “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Jesus shared this parable to build their confidence in the goodness of the heavenly Father, and His willingness to answer prayer. Having confidence in your heavenly Father is a major key to receiving answers to prayer. Notice: not only does He give enough bread for what you need, He gives you an abundant supply! MORE THAN ENOUGH! He just can't help Himself from blessing you, He is always giving. The Heavenly Father is the Holy Ghost bread maker. We must have a New Creation mindset, a mindset that believes all things are possible to those who believe. Think about this, the creator of the universe is your heavenly Father. Is their anything to difficult for Him? You are an anointed child of God (Acts 10:38). Give us your daily bread! Is there another time that God gave daily bread in history? Let’s look at Exodus 16.

Exodus 16:11-19 (Amplified Bible)
11The Lord said to Moses, 12I have heard the murmurings of the Israelites; speak to them, saying, At twilight you shall eat meat, and between the two evenings you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God. 13In the evening quails came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay round about the camp. 14And when the dew had gone, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a fine, round and flakelike thing, as fine as hoarfrost on the ground. 15When the Israelites saw it, they said one to another, Manna [What is it?]. For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. 16This is what the Lord has commanded: Let every man gather of it as much as he will need, an omer for each person, according to the number of your persons; take it, every man for those in his tent. 17The [people] did so, and gathered, some more, some less. 18When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack; each gathered according to his need. 19Moses said, Let none of it be left until morning.

God supplied fresh bread every day. They could have as much bread as they wanted. There was only one condition. You couldn't save the bread until the next day, because it would melt, and worms would eat it. You couldn't wait until noon; you had to get the bread before the heat of the day, Psalm 63:1 says “early will I seek thee.” This bread was from the Father and it was always fresh. Everything God does is fresh and full of life! Everything religion produces is stale. This manna was a manifestation of the God’s provision. In Luke chapter 11 we see that we must spend time with the Father if we are going to enjoy eating the fresh, life giving bread of His presence. Not only to get enough bread for ourselves, but also, to get enough bread to give to others throughout the rest of your day.

Miracle Manna

John 6:1-13 (Amplified Bible)
1AFTER THIS, Jesus went to the farther side of the Sea of Galilee--that is, the Sea of Tiberias. 2And a great crowd was following Him because they had seen the signs (miracles) which He [continually] performed upon those who were sick. 3And Jesus walked up the mountainside and sat down there with His disciples. 4Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was approaching. 5Jesus looked up then, and seeing that a vast multitude was coming toward Him, He said to Philip, Where are we to buy bread, so that all these people may eat? 6But He said this to prove (test) him, for He well knew what He was about to do. 7Philip answered Him, Two hundred pennies' (forty dollars) worth of bread is not enough that everyone may receive even a little. 8Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, 9There is a little boy here, who has [with him] five barley loaves, and two small fish; but what are they among so many people? 10Jesus said, Make all the people recline (sit down). Now the ground (a pasture) was covered with thick grass at the spot, so the men threw themselves down, about 5,000 in number. 11Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed to the disciples and the disciples to the reclining people; so also [He did] with the fish, as much as they wanted. 12When they had all had enough, He said to His disciples, Gather up now the fragments (the broken pieces that are left over), so that nothing may be lost and wasted. 13So accordingly they gathered them up, and they filled twelve [small hand] baskets with fragments left over by those who had eaten from the five barley loaves.

Here we see that Jesus is revealing a dynamic of the heavenly Father. He was giving His disciples a foretaste of what was to come. As the disciples broke the bread it literally multiplied in their hands. They fed 5000 people and ended up with way more than they started with, 12 baskets left over.

John 6:35-51 (Amplified Bible)
35Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time). 36But [as] I told you, although you have seen Me, still you do not believe and trust and have faith. 37All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me]. 38For I have come down from heaven not to do My own will and purpose but to do the will and purpose of Him Who sent Me. 39And this is the will of Him Who sent Me, that I should not lose any of all that He has given Me, but that I should give new life and raise [them all] up at the last day. 40For this is My Father's will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day. 41Now the Jews murmured and found fault with and grumbled about Jesus because He said, I am [Myself] the Bread that came down from heaven. 42They kept asking, Is not this Jesus, the Son of Joseph, Whose father and mother we know? How then can He say, I have come down from heaven? 43So Jesus answered them, Stop grumbling and saying things against Me to one another. 44No one is able to come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me attracts and draws him and gives him the desire to come to Me, and [then] I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day. 45It is written in [the book of] the Prophets, And they shall all be taught of God [have Him in person for their Teacher]. Everyone who has listened to and learned from the Father comes to Me-- 46Which does not imply that anyone has seen the Father [not that anyone has ever seen Him] except He [Who was with the Father] Who comes from God; He [alone] has seen the Father. 47I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, he who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, relies on, and has faith in Me] has (now possesses) eternal life. 48I am the Bread of Life [that gives life--the Living Bread]. 49Your forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and [yet] they died. 50[But] this is the Bread that comes down from heaven, so that [any]one may eat of it and never die. 51I [Myself] am this Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever; and also the Bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh (body).

Just after the feeding of the 5000. Jesus makes a powerful statement, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” Jesus is the bread of life. His divine Life is on the inside of you. You are a walking Holy Ghost bread maker. Everywhere you go you are to be breaking the bread of life, and giving it those who are hungry. Taste and see that the Lord is good. In the same way that the disciples broke the bread and gave it away, the more you give it away the more it will multiply back to you, so that you will have more to give away. This is the law of life, or you could say the law of multiplication, this law was activated when Jesus spoke, and blessed the bread, and it was made manifest when the disciples broke the bread and gave it away. That is why they had 12 baskets left over when everyone was stuffed with the miracle manna. The life of God is creative, it never stops reproducing itself. There is no such thing as lack with the heavenly Father. He is the God of increase; He truly is the God of more than enough.

Go Get Your Own Bread

John 16:23-24 (Amplified Bible)
23And when that time comes, you will ask nothing of Me [you will need to ask Me no questions]. I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that My Father will grant you whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I AM].24Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I AM]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.

Up until this point Jesus was the one supplying the bread, but now He is saying the time is now here for you to go to the Father for yourself and get bread. Not just enough for yourself, but to get enough to give away to others as well. This heavenly bread is the bread of healing, the bread of joy, the bread of freedom, the bread of deliverance, the bread of the Holy Ghost. If we are going to do the works Jesus did then we must follow His example. Jesus spent time fellowshipping with His heavenly Father and the Father abundantly supplied every need. I want to encourage you today to go to your heavenly Father with a confident expectation that He is more willing to answer your prayers and bless you than you are to ask!

I want to invite you to visit our website at http://www.daea.org/.

Also, while you are at the website please sign up to be on our e-mailing list. I want to share with you a great approach that gets results that you can use today. Now you have to realize that it's not you that has to make something happen, the power is in the gospel. Jesus told us to go and tell the Good News and as we do people will get saved.

Approach :
The first thing to do is introduce yourself in a friendly way. After you have introduced yourself, ask the person: Has anyone ever told you that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life? Then ask them the following If your life was required of you today, where would you spend eternity? If they say heaven, ask them, Why would God let you in? If they don't know or have any other answer other than Jesus is their Lord and Savior, share the following scriptures.

The Bible Reads:
Romans 3:23 (NIV)
For all have sinned...
Romans 6:23 (NIV)
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 10:13 (NIV)
Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

Salvation Prayer:

After these scriptures have been shared, extend your hand and tell them to pray this prayer aloud with you: (do not ask them if they are ready to pray) Dear God, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with you, and I want to be right with you. I ask you to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

On Fire with a Passion to Win the Lost

By: Daniel Adams

http://www.daea.org/

Proverbs 11:30 (New King James Version)
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.

Several years ago the Lord challenged me to step out of my comfort zone to win the lost, and to stir believers to do the same. My vision and passion is to see believers come back to their first love and fall in love with Jesus all over again, and as a result become radical witnesses for Jesus. There are so many believers in the church who at one time had a zeal for the things of God, but over the course of time they have drifted and have become stagnant in their walk with the Lord. This should not be, the bible says that we are to go from glory to glory not from boring to boring. The church must be revived, empowered, and set on fire for Jesus. If you are not on fire in your walk with God then you need to get on fire and stay on fire! No other group of people on the earth can win the lost. Jesus has commissioned us, His church, to win the lost. Backslidden, lukewarm, cranky, pew potato Christians who are bound up with religion and tradition are not going to get the job done. The ones who go out and win the lost are those who are on fire for God and in love with Jesus, and those who have a genuine appreciation for the finished work of Jesus! We must see the outpouring of the Holy Ghost in our churches for the purpose of empowering the church to win the lost. (see Acts 1:8).

The Ministry of Reconciliation

2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (Amplified Bible)
18 But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him]. 19 It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor). 20 So we are Christ's ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ's personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.

Not all of us are called to the pulpit ministry of preaching to the crowds, but as we see from the above passage every Christian has been given the ministry of reconciliation. This means that we all have a part to play in bringing in the lost. Another important statement given in the above passage is that "we are Christ's ambassadors." As Christ's ambassadors we have a responsibility to represent Jesus to the world. The main focus of this ministry is souls, to introduce the world to Jesus. This is the heartbeat of God, to bring people into a relationship with himself through the finished work of Jesus. Let's tell the world what Jesus has done through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Seeing Through the Eyes of Jesus

John 4:34-37 (Amplified Bible)
34 Jesus said to them, My food (nourishment) is to do the will (pleasure) of Him Who sent Me and to accomplish and completely finish His work. 35 Do you not say, It is still four months until harvest time comes? Look! I tell you, raise your eyes and observe the fields and see how they are already white for harvesting. 36 Already the reaper is getting his wages [he who does the cutting now has his reward], for he is gathering fruit (crop) unto life eternal, so that he who does the planting and he who does the reaping may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying holds true, One sows and another reaps.

We are living in a time that there are more people alive on the earth than ever before. The fields are truly white unto harvest. Jesus is telling us to look up and see that the fields are ripe, not in the future, but to take notice right now! In every generation the fields have been ready to be harvested. The church needs to see through the eyes of Jesus and seize the opportunity that is before us. As you study throughout church history you will always find that it was the few that had enough spiritual sense to reach the lost with the gospel. We need to ask God to awaken us to the reality of eternity, that every person will spend eternity somewhere. We can alter the destiny of many lives if we will allow the Holy Spirit show us the world through the eyes of Jesus.

I want to see the release of a passion for the lost come into the hearts of Gods people, to stir us to take the Gospel of Christ and the demonstrations of the Spirit of God into the malls, the streets, into the ghettos, the hospitals, teen hangouts, into the towns, into the cities, into the darkest continents. This is the Great Commission and assignment that Jesus gave to the church before he ascended into heaven. When Jesus called His twelve disciples to Him He gave them power to do the work: power over unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all kinds of sickness and diseases! (See Matt. 10:1).

Ways to Get Involved

PRAY- The harvest is ripe but the laborers are few, therefore it is important that we all get involved. God tells us to pray the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into the harvest. Pray that God will allow you to be part of this end-time harvest of souls. Remember the only thing we can take with us into eternity is souls.

BE INVOLVED- Pray and ask the Lord what he would have you do in being financially involved in the harvest of souls. Your one time gift this month will help us greatly in the harvest, as well as your ongoing monthly support of any size.

May the Lord richly bless you as you get involved with the very heartbeat of God and press in with us to see souls saved, cities shaken, and the church on fire with a passion to win the lost!

I want to invite you to visit our website at http://www.daea.org/

Also, while you are at the website please sign up to be on our e-mailing list. If all you have is the word you will dry up, if all you have is the Spirit you will blow up, but if you have the word and the Spirit you will grow up. Today as you read this writing, I pray that the Lord would richly bless you and that the Holy Spirit would bring greater illumination on the subject of the Word & Spirit.

The Word & Spirit

Genesis 1:1-3
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

I want you to notice in verse 2, the Spirit of God was hovering. If you study this out, what it is actually saying is that the Spirit of God was hovering, much like a mother hen broods over her eggs until they hatch. Then in verse 3, God said Let there be light and there was light. So we see here, first was the Holy Spirit and we see that He was waiting for the instant that the Word is spoken. The moment the word was spoken He (Holy Spirit) enforced and manifested the Word that was spoken. So here we see the cooperation of the God-head working together in creation God the Father had the image on the inside of Himself, then the Logos (Jesus) speaks the word and then the Holy Spirit manifest the spoken word in creation according to the will of the Father.

John 1:1-3
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Luke 3:21-22
21Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

We can see here again the trinity in manifestation in a single event. So we see here in John 1 that the Word (Jesus) came first, he was born into the earth, he was growing and developing. The word had been on the planet in human form for 30 years. Here it is almost the exact opposite of what we saw in Genesis, in Genesis we saw that the Holy Spirit was waiting for the word to be spoken, and then here we find Jesus at the age of thirty had not performed one miracle, not one blind eye opened, nothing until He was anointed by the Holy Ghost at the river Jordan. When you really think about it, it's mind boggling, a little baby in a manger, and yet he is the very one that created and is upholding all things! So the Word walked on the earth for 30 years and performed no miracles or healings until he was empowered by the Holy Ghost. The Word is alive and is full of power, but just the Word of God laying on your table collecting dust produces nothing until it is mixed with the anointing of the Holy Ghost. Think about this; In creation if the Word was never spoken, then there would have never been a manifestation of creation. If Jesus (the Word) had never been empowered by the anointing of the Holy Ghost. He never would have been able to go about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. It takes the operation of the Word and the Spirit to bring forth the will of God in the earth. Speaking in tongues is one of the most hated truths by the devil. Speaking in tongues is the Holy Spirit speaking forth the very plan and purpose of God into manifestation in your life. The first initial evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is speaking in other tongues. The first thing the Holy Spirit wants to do is voice authority to the plan of God for your life.

Matthew 17:14-21
14And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
16And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
18And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
19Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Notice: The disciples could not get this guys son healed. Jesus didn't pat the disciples on the back and say, "that's ok we'll get it next time," Jesus was absolutely ruthless on their unbelief, he was expecting them to have faith. Jesus even told the Father that if he had faith the son could be healed. The man said, I believe to some degree, but he said help my unbelief. Your faith comes to an end, but His faith is limitless, and when you come to the end of your faith you can tap into His faith. That's what the gift of faith is. When the gift of faith comes on you, you will step into a holy boldness. You will do things that seem unnatural to the natural mind. Their will always be results that line up with God's word when opperating in the gift of faith.

Walking in Power

Acts 10:38
38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
I want you to notice here that Jesus was anointed with 2 things, the Holy Ghost and power. The Holy Ghost comes for fellowship, but when the power comes it comes for ministry.

Luke 4:1-3
1And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
3And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

Luke 4:7-13
7If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
9And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

Notice in verse 1, Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, it doesn't mention power yet. Also, notice just after He is empowered, immediately Satan comes to steal the word. IF thou be the Son of God, he came to steal the Word the Father had just spoken, God just said "this is my son." The reason why Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness was to take back what was stolen in the garden. Jesus was tempted in 3 realms spirit, soul, and body. Just as Adam lost his dominion in 3 realms. Notice Jesus doesn't defeat Satan with happy thoughts. He defeats the devil by speaking the word of God. The enemy will always try to get you to look at the circumstances instead of looking to God. Don't accept the circumstance that Satan brings. Instead speak God's word. You don't defeat the devil with your thoughts. You defeat the devil with your words.

Luke 4:14
14And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

Jesus now is walking in power, He is ready to demonstrate the power of God in the destruction of the works of the devil. If I had the keys to a band new V12, red, Ferrari, how many would like to it for a spin? But what if I gave the keys to a 5 year old child? You would think I was crazy! A 5 year old child is not ready. When they become of full age, then they can take the key, put it in the ignition, and take the car for a drive. God the Father has some keys that unlock more of His power in our lives. We need to get into the word and we need to pray in the Holy Ghost. This is how we will see the release of His power in and though our lives in a greater way.

The Living Word

Hebrews 4:12
12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Word of God is alive and full of power. One reason why everything will respond to the Word of God is because everything at it's core is the Word of God. We understand that the enemy has perverted creation, but the word of God is full of power to change things back to the will of God. Lack of faith in God's word was the door out of the garden. Faith in the God's Word is the doorway back into the garden or you could say paradise of God. This is where all of your needs are abundantly met. Whatever you need it is found through faith in God's word. If you need healing for your body, if you need peace for your mind, if you need finances, whatever your need is God has made provision for you through the finished work of Jesus. When Jesus said "it's finished" he meant it.

Luke 4:18-27
18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
22And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
23And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
24And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
25But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
26But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian

In verse 18, the Spirit of the Lord is upon the word. In verse 19 Jesus said, He was called, "to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." This is the year of Jubilee, when freedom was proclaimed to all people. Complete redemption in Christ, health, holiness, power, prosperity, and full dominion over Satan and all of his works. Then in verse 23, The ministry of the prophet is to deliver the Word of the Lord without exception. Then look at verse 27, When Jesus said this, it made the religious so angry that they interrupted His message. They literally wanted to pick him up, carry him to the edge of the city, and throw him off the cliff. Not exactly the outcome your looking for when you preach your first sermon. What made them so mad? Jesus was saying that under the old covenant there was ONLY one woman who received the promise of God. Then He is saying that ONLY one leper was healed and it was the one that went and dipped in the river Jordan 7 times. Both of these examples were people who were not even in covenant with God. The Parisees that Jesus is speaking to had a covenant with God, and all of the people could have been healed, but only a couple recieved. Jesus is saying to them, God's Word is your provision and it is your health. He was rebuking them for their unbelief. It is interesting that in the very next chapter Jesus healed a man full of leprosy.

Luke 5:12-14
12And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
14And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Some people have the idea that God has the ability to heal them, but they question His willingness to heal them. Get this truth established in you, HE IS ALWAYS WILLING! Jesus is the Word. The Word put on flesh and showed us the power that is contained within the Word. When you read the word of God you are actually fellowshipping with Jesus. When the Roman Centurion came to Jesus he said "Lord if your willing..." you could say the Centurion litteraly came to the word of God for His healing. Everyone who ever came to the Word (Jesus) was healed. This still applies today.

Mark 4:14
14The sower soweth the word.

God sowed His word to Israel, yet there was not one single leper healed, not one single widow received the promise. When the sower sows the living Word, all of the power that is in the Word is living. The Word mixed with faith is pulsating with power, and it's on the inside of you. HE LIVES IN YOU! GOD HAS ANOINTED THAT WORD IN YOU! The Word is alive, but until faith is mixed with the Word the power within the Word is not released. That's why we must become doers of the word and speak His word out of our mouth with boldness. When we do, it will release His power. Jesus sowed the Word into His disciples for 3 ½ years. Then He tells them don't go anywhere until that word on the inside of you is baptized in power. You are not a threat to the devil unless you are moving in the power of the Spirit. When you speak God's word in faith you will overcome. Until you speak His word and overcome the enemy you will not step into the full measure of His power and provision for your life. God's Word never changes. His word is complete, that's why begging God to heal you isn't going to change anything. According to Him, He has done everything He is ever going to do to heal you and bless you. You must speak His word and believe and act on His word, if we want to release His blessing in our life. You have to do something to open the valve so the power can flow. This is why we must renew our mind to the word of God.
